Hilda Broomfield Letemplier is the President and Chief Financial Officer of Pressure Pipe Steel Fabrication Limited and Northern Oxygen Ltd. Mining suppliers that services some of the largest resource development projects in Labrador. Her companies are 100% Inuit/Indigenous and woman-owned businesses that were created by Broomfield Letemplier and her husband, Lionel in Happy Valley – Goose Bay, Labrador. To keep up with the diversity of her business endeavor, Ms. Broomfield Letemplier completed a project management fundamentals course to boost her leadership, project planning, and management skills as well as monitoring and control at the College of the North Atlantic.

Hilda has had the pleasure and honor to serve on two previous boards:  She served on the Board of Directors with the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board for three years and has been reappointed to the National Indigenous Development Board (NIEDB) for an additional five years.  She truly gained a whole new perspective on the work of the NIEDB Board representing the First Nations, Inuit and Metis of Canada with regards to providing strategic policy advice to the federal government on issues related to Indigenous economic development while helping government to respond to the unique needs and circumstances of indigenous peoples in Canada.

She served with the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) as the Labrador Regional Director from 2005 -2018.  During that time Hilda served as Chair and President from 2016 – 2018.  Her work with NLOWE was also very rewarding knowing that she was able to enhance the needs of women entrepreneurs in Newfoundland and Labrador to access quality information, provide valuable connections, and exciting opportunities for business development and growth.  Their focus was on women-owned business enabling them to connect, grow and succeed in today’s competitive and exciting business environment.

Hilda has just been invited to sit on the Indigenous Women’s Circle.  The Indigenous Women’s Circle is committed to providing strategic guidance and expertise to inform federal efforts to address the systemic inequalities that Indigenous Women experience, particularly related to issues of Gender Based Violence, economic insecurity, and Indigenous leadership.

She is also a certified member of WEConnect International and the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Suppliers Council (CAMSC). In fact, Pressure Pipe Steel Fabrication Ltd. won CAMSC’s Business Achievement Award in 2012.

Broomfield Letemplier is frequently profiled in the media, including Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, The NLOWE Advisor, National Post, Administrative Procedures for the Canadian Office, Indian Country, and the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). She was also a panelist at Ovations, which celebrated the achievements of women entrepreneurs. She spoke at the Northern Lights Conference in Ottawa in 2016. In March 2016 she was a guest speaker for International Women’s Day in Happy Valley – Goose Bay and then spoke at the Senate on behalf of the NAEDB for her work with the board on Northern Infrastructure to name a few.  These initiatives help to inspire and provide a role model for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women and those of indigenous ancestry.   Hilda has the belief of diversity and inclusiveness as she is a Canadian Indigenous woman who lives in the North who is a rural entrepreneur in a non – traditional trade of mining which gives her a unique perspective on the needs of entrepreneurs and she portrays that in her board of directors’ work.
