National Indigenous Economic Development Board Side Event at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues

The Chairperson of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board (NIEDB), Dawn Madahbee Leach, will be participating in a Side Event entitled “Economic Reconciliation and the Implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples” at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues on Monday, April 25, 2002 from 19:00 – 20:30 EDT.

Hosted by the Government of Canada, this Side Event provides an opportunity to share views on the implementation of the UN Declaration in various states, its links to the economic development of Indigenous peoples, and how the Declaration can be leveraged as a tool for the full realization of the economic potential of Indigenous peoples.

The implementation of the rights enshrined within the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples provides a framework that will help achieve economic reconciliation – to the benefit of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples alike.
