Increasing Aboriginal Participation in Major Resource Projects

Over the past two decades, resource exploration and development activities have grown in almost every region of Canada, bringing significant opportunities in the form of jobs, business opportunities and revenue streams to the doorstep of Aboriginal communities. First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people are increasingly playing a central role in helping move these projects forward.

What’s Next – These recommendations represent a first step in the NAEDB’s work to identify ways in which Aboriginal people can fully benefit from Canada’s resource economy. The Board expects to delve further into specific elements of this topic (e.g. training, education, energy, revenue sharing, global resource development opportunities, etc.) in the near future to provide further advice to the federal government.
